Major projects
2004 – 2022 Lead architect in highly relevant projects in the context of the German electronic health card infrastructure („Telematik-Infrastruktur“)
- Requirements analysis, infrastructure planning, design and implementation, handover to operations
- Technical lead of the infrastructure teams during development, esp. In the areas network, databases, and cloud infrastructure
- Supporting the successful roll-out of ePA to multiple public health insurances
- Supporting the successful roll-out of KOM-LE and KIM
- Successful and in-time delivery and start of operations of the gematik e-prescription service for Germany
Concrete projects:
- 2020-2021 e-Rezept – the German national system for e-prescriptions, based on on-prem infrastructure and IBM cloud services
- 2019-2020 ePA – electronic patient record (ca. 40% market share of all 70M public health insurants at that time), based on IBM cloud services
- 2015-2016,2019-2021 KOM-LE/KIM – secure email for health practitioners (60% market share with 0.7M KIM e-Mails per day
- 2014 VSDM Intermediär (master data request proxy, ca. 75% market share on master data calls from the practices to the health insurances)
- 2004- Consulting to the ministry of health, Fraunhofer institute, and the gematik; Prototype development, presentation on CeBIT and MEDICA
2018 – 2019 Blockchain architect
Creating a blockchain security framework for a banking client. identifying threats and security controls to counter the threats in the infrastructure and blockchain application layers
2018 Architecture modernization review
Architecture modernization review lead for the mainly host-based infrastructure of a banking client. Defined the review process, guided the team and presented to the CIO.
2017, 2018 Architecture review lead
Lead architect for reviewing two large cloud- and microservices applications at a large travel and transport client. Team management and guidance, conducting interviews, evaluation of results, quality assurance of final review document, presentation to the client
2012 – 2017 Lead Architect eAkte
Lead architect for the electronic document management at the German Federal Employment Agency (eAkte Bundesagentur für Arbeit) Led the project from a troubled pilot to successful rollout to three tenants, 2+bn documents, and 80,000 daily users. Requirements analysis, Architecture and design, performance and stability optimizations Team size ca. 60 developers, testers, infrastructure and operations
2009 – 2010 Architect in Chief Design Team / Lead Architect
Changing a master data management system of a large bank from customer- to person-centric view. Later the project changed into a migration project to bring in master data from a taken over bank. Architect in the “Chief Design Team”, coordinating different development streams. Since Oktober 2009 Architekt in the core team, Februar 2010 lead architect of the core design- and development teams. Team size up to 50 designers and developers from a total project size of 200.
2007 – 2008 Banking modernization
Defining modernization plan to develop an existing e-banking into a SOA-based direct banking platform, including multi-channel and cross-product services. Definiting the architecture for a the integration of the brokerage solution, and the order processing system based on WebSphere Process server.
2005, 2006 – 2007 Architecture reviews, Stabilization projects
Architecture reviews regarding availability and performance for two large German banking clients. The banking services provided to the branch offices suffered from stability and performance issues that I successfully investigated.
2001 – 2003: e-Commerce project Lead Architect
Lead architect of a B2B sales portal for a large chemical company. First based on WebSphere Commerce, then with service-oriented approach I proposed to the client, with strong integrations into many backends like SAP. Successful roll out to all regions and business units. Team size of to 12 developers. The B2B portal was used world-wide for over 17 years.
1987 and 1989: Industrial programming
Programming computer-numeric controlled machinery (Siematic S5)
1989 – to date: Retro-computing activist
Design and development of multiple self-built 8-bit computers and corresponding multi-tasking operating system.
